North Pontotoc Girls 66, Cleveland 59

The Cleveland High School Lady Wildcats saw its season come to an end as they lost to the North Pontotoc Lady Vikings in the first round of the 4A North Half Girls Basketball Playoffs Monday night in Ecru.

The Lady Wildcats ended their season at 16-15, while the Lady Vikings improved to 23-6 and will advance to the quarterfinals of the 4A North Half on Thursday.

Cleveland battled North Pontotoc hard through out the night. The Lady Wildcats trailed just 27-22 at halftime. The Lady Vikings were able to stretch their lead to 50-38 going into the final quarter, but the Lady Wildcats battled back and outscored the Lady Vikings 21-16 in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough.

McKinnon Skeen led Cleveland on the evening with 17 points including five 3-pointers, followed by Brittany Thigpen with 12 points, eight rebounds and seven steals, Chelsea Heffner with 10 points, Maya Richard with eight points, five assists, four rebound and two steals and Taylor Collins with five rebounds and five steals.
