Blanche was born to Thomas Larkin Harrelson Sr. and Edna Victoria Tedder Harrelson in Vardaman. Her family moved to the Walnut community. As a teenager she worked at Powers Dept. Store in Clarksdale. She married and moved to Shaw and then Cleveland, where she raised her three children. There, she owned and operated Burke-Hall Paint Store, Belgrade Apartments and partnered with her daughter in an antique store, Finishing Touch Interiors.
She moved to Tunica, where she owned and managed The Landing Restaurant at the Tunica Cut-Off. She moved to Shreveport, La., and worked with UL Coleman as Property Manager. Later, she transferred to San Marcos, Texas, to be with her son and continued employment with UL Coleman until her retirement in 1997 when she moved back to Clarksdale. She has resided in the Senatobia Convalescent Center since 2009.
Those who knew Blanche loved her spirit and her zest for life. Family and friends cherish their loving memories of her.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Victoria Lee Franks Fields "Vicki"; son, Louie Thomas Majors Jr.; her parents; her brothers, John Thomas Harrelson and Thomas Larkin Jr. "T.L."; and sisters, Viola Harrelson Houston and Susie Harrelson Parker.
Survivors include her daughter, Kay Franks Bates, husband, Reggie of Ocean Springs; son, Jeffrey Darion Franks and wife Cathy of San Marcos, Texas; grandchildren Shelli Brewer Dowty and husband Ronnie of Southaven, Linsey Fields Gammel and husband Michael of Batesville, Loren Gautier and Kristina Gautier, both of Oxford; and great grandchildren, Presley and Baylor Gammel.
A private celebration of life will be held by her family and friends at a later date.
