Cox will run for the position currently held by Alderman Danny Abraham.
Candidates have until 5 p.m. March 8 to turn in paperwork to City Administrator John Lindsey, who is acting as interim city clerk.
Qualified candidates have until April 5 to contact The Bolivar Commercial for a free front-page story on their candidacy for office.
Stories may be written by the candidate or a BC staff writer. All stories will be no longer than 15 inches and will be printed by April 21.
