The Delta State University football team completed its second practice of Camp Delta inside Kent Wyatt Gymnasium due to the torrential downpour of rain that occurred over the past 24 hours.

Despite the rain forcing the Statesmen off the university practice field; the team split into three groups consisting of the defense for the first period, followed by a special teams group, then the offensive group rounded out the practice.

"Were glad that we have the facility that we have here at Delta State," said head coach Todd Cooley. "We appreciate the HPER department for letting use it."

The defense picked up where they left off from practice one yesterday. "I think the defense got some things done," stated Cooley. "Coach Anthony said they (defense) did a real good with their practice and we introduced some things on special teams."

The Statesmen return to the university practice fields today, weather permitting, at 5 p.m. for their third practice of fall camp. The team will be in shells (helmets and shoulder pads) for the first time. All practices are open to the public.
