Delta State University’s Union Programming Council is enthusiastic about this year's Springfest, to be held from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday on the Delta State University Quadrangle.

“We are super excited about this year's event,” Student Director of the Union Maci Palasini said.

“We cannot wait to see everyone at Springfest 2012,” Palasini said.

This year’s event will feature musical entertainment from Blue Mother Tupelo, a “Swampadelic” duo from Indianola.

Another “special musical guest” has yet to be announced according to an email sent from Palasini.

Springfest will also include many different inflatables and water inflatables as well as a mechanical bull and rock wall.

There will also be a dunk tank equipped with campus student leaders ready and willing to take their chances against those wishing to pitch them into the water.

UPC was also excited to announce the addition of a zip-line to this year’s event.

Many student organizations on campus will set up booths during the event as well.

Face painting, balloon art, photo-can wraps, create-your-own street signs and wax hands are slated to be part of the event and will be “free of charge” according to the UPC.

“All of the event’s activities are entirely free,” Palasini said.

However they will be selling T-shirts and carnival foods for different prices throughout the afternoon.

“Bring a few dollars for a treat and a shirt, but everything else is free,” Palasini said.

Carnival foods including corn dogs and funnel cake will be available at varying prices according to the announcement and Springfest 2012 T-shirts will be sold for $12.
