Mrs. West was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Julian C. West, and by her sister Shirley Thompson Ballard.

She and her husband were key members of the Merigold Hunt Club, and one of her great joys was time spent in nature and with animals.
She is survived by her brother, J. William Thompson, and his wife Fay; nephews Glenn Dickard, Tom Ballard, Hubert Thompson, Paul W. Thompson, and Boyd Thompson; and nieces Susan Dickard and Tracy Ballard-Vogel.
Last year she moved to Nashville, Tenn., to be closer to her brother, and lived at the Meadows, a Lakeshore Senior Community, where she soon became a favorite because of her quick mind, keen sense of humor, and spunk.
