A celebration of life for Bully will be held at 10:30 a.m. November 14, 2013, at First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 981 Marshall Avenue, St. Paul, Minn., with Minister Eli Thigpen officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Smelling Veterans Cemetery under the directions of Brooks Funeral Home, 863 Concordia Avenue, St. Paul, Minn. 55104.
Bully was the fourth child born in Winstonville to Moses Isaac Lewis Sr. and Evelyn Norman Lewis. His trade was carpentry and auto mechanics. He served in the United States Army from October 10, 1976-1978 in Germany.
In recognition of serving his country, he will be honored with a 21 gun burial salute.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Moses Isaac Lewis Sr. and Evelyn Norman Lewis; son, Duron Vanderbilt Lewis; grandparents, Joseph and Flotilla Staples-Norman, and Judge and Louise Harper Lewis; sister, Valeria Gustava Lewis; brothers, Willie Earl Williams, Larry and Ronnell Nicholes; and stepdaughter, Charlene Denwiddie.
He is survived by his daughters, Lounyetta and Sheklia; and sons, Gamealle and Aqualar Lewis, all of Peoria, Ill.; his wife, Dorothy Katching-Lewis, stepdaughters, Chasity Fields, Charmaine Neimi, and Christy Denwiddie; stepson, Charles Denwiddie; siblings, Moses Isaac Lewis Jr. of Shelby, Cremaya Pariscene Wilson of Winstonville, Lauritta Joell Clark of Richton Park, Ill., Yulanders Sual of Arizona, Gerald Lewis of Chicago, Ill., Felicia Campbell of Oklahoma, Brenda Varnado of Matteson, Ill., Duron and regina Lewis of Oklahoma, Rhemalyn Lewis of Jackson, Veronica Nicholes Robinson of Mound Bayou and Donnel Nicholes of Huntsville, Ala.; 19 step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
