George Freeman Sr., 91, of Shaw died on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at McEvans Elementary School Gymnasium in Shaw, officiated by Reverend A.C. Gilmore, and followed by interment in Bethlehem No. 1 Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013, at W.S. Brandon Mortuary in Cleveland.

Mr. Freeman attended school in Blaine. He worked as a farmer and sharecropper most of his life and worked at Greenville Mills many years until he retired.

In 1946, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Mrs. Callie Mae Freeman (1925-1998). At the time of her death, they were married for 52 years.

This union was blessed with 17 children, four of which preceded him in death: Lillie Bland, Frank Freeman, Willie White and John Henry Freeman.

He is survived by one sister, Dora Hosey of Itta Bena; eight daughters, Bertha (Walter) Glenn, Ruth (Cleotha) Williams, Jacqueline (Nathaniel) Dorsey, Lou Bertha (Willie) Lewis and Jeanette Freeman, all of Shaw, Mae Wooden of Boyle, Mary Ann Freeman and Shirley Lewis of Milwaukee, Wis.; five sons, Joe Dee Freeman, Charles Freeman and Jessie Freeman, all of Shaw, Bobbie (Mary) Freeman of Indianola and George (Mary) Freeman Jr. of Cleveland.
