With the win the Hawks improved to 20-5 on the year and Broad Street fell to 9-13 on the year.
The Hawks came out on fire leading the Jags 20-11 after the first quarter and taking a 34-23 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Broad Street opened the third quarter on a 6-0 run to close the gap to 34-29. After Shaw Head Coach Anthony Davis called a timeout, the Hawks went on a 6-0 run of their own to push the lead to 40-29. Shaw ended the third quarter leading 47-32.
In the fourth quarter the Hawks led the Jaguars 53-32. With 4:30 remaining in the game Shaw held a 60-40 lead.
With 3:33 on the clock, the Jags found themselves trailing the Hawks 60-45. Following an intentional foul on the Shaw, Broad Street's Richard Horn was able to hit a free throw for a 60-46 game. Horn then got a steal and a lay-up for a 60-48 game.
As the game progressed the Jags kept fighting and things looked up when Flo Robinson hit a three point shot with :50 left on the clock for a 63-56 game, but the Jags could not capitalize as the Hawks full court pressure forced three turnovers in a row from Broad Street as they held on for a 67-56 win.
In the contest the Jaguars committed 28 turnovers much to the delight of Davis.
"We wanted to come out and pressure them and create turnovers. We did a good job of that, but I wasn't pleased with our free throw shooting in the game. Poor free throw shooting in the second hale really helped them get back in the game," said Davis.
On the night Shaw made 20-of-41 free throws. In the fourth quarter the Hawks went 8-of-24
Octavius Stimage led Shaw with 16 points, Andre Pruitt scored 11points, Demerrius Williams and Deshawn Davis had eight points each while Jermarquis Stimage and Malik Walker scored seven each.
Ade Jones led Broad Street with 16 points, Rashid Jones had 14 points, B.J. Hall scored nine and Flo Robinson scored eight points.
