Visitation will be Friday, July 26, 2013, from noon until 5:45 p.m. at Brinson Funeral Home in Cleveland. Family Hour will be held from 6-7 p.m. in the chapel.
Funeral service will be Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Greater New Kingdom Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland. Reverend Orlando D. Franklin will officiate. The burial will be in the Merigold Cemetery. Song service rendered by Lampton Street Church of Christ “The Lamplighters” of Mound Bayou.
Leroy worked several years on Pemble Farms. He also did his own personal farming. He worked 30 years at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company where he retired. Upon retiring, he became an entrepreneur, Leroy’s Lawn and Tire Service. He was a servant to the community with this business. He would cut lawns without pay. This business was still operating until Leroy’s health failed.
Leroy was married to the late Ladorothy Kemp who passed on October 16, 2010.
Survivors include five sons, Roy Chester Lusby of Chicago, Ill., Larry Jerome Lusby and Orlando Deshun Franklin, both of Mound Bayou, Milton DeWayne Lusby of Renova, and Almoris (Theresa) Lusby of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Sharron (Wendell) Lusby Boyd and Vickie Renee’ Lusby, both of Memphis, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one special nephew, Tracy Anderson of Madison; one godson, Patrick Mosley of Shreveport, La.; four sisters, Rosie Lee (Cleo) Cox and Mable Robinson, both of Renova, Louise Lusby of Memphis, Tenn., and Loubirta Lusby of Merigold; six sisters-in-law, Ora Jackson of Merigold, Carrie (Leutennus) Williams of Columbia, Mo., Katye Garner of Chicago, Ill., Bertha (Lawrence) Sultan of East Saint Louis, Ill., Barbara Martin of Merigold and Lena Marie Stallworth of Rockford; three brothers-in-law, Henry (Lula) Kemp of Columbia, Mo., Alfred (Dorothy) Kemp of Mound Bayou and Charles Anderson of Merigold; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends and his church family, Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church.
