Sulee Blansett was voted Bell Academy’s Teacher of the Month for January.
Blansett teaches second grade students in math, science and social studies.
Blansett is an energetic teacher who requires her students have fun while they learn. She goes above and beyond her duties as a teacher.
She is also the chair of the RtI/TsT committee. Her hard work and dedication to teaching is evident by her punctuality and willingness to work after hours.
Mosby named scholar
The Hinds Community College President's Scholars have been named for the 2012 fall semester.
Jermale Mosby of Shelby was named a fall 2012 President's Scholar.
President's Scholars are those with a cumulative 4.0 grade point average.

Driver safety offered
AARP Driver Safety Program will be presented Feb. 25 at Oakes Auto Group, 871 Hwy. 82 East in Greenville.
This class will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and is designed for motorist age 50 and over. It is a class room refresher course for defensive driving. The program is designed to help drivers compensate for age related changes in reaction time, hearing and vision problems.
The cost for each participant is $14. For AARP members, the cost is $12.
Upon completing the session, each participant will receive a three year certificate.
Insurance companies are required by state law to give a reduction in automobile insurance premiums for each participant completing the course.

Bridge winner announced
The Cleveland Duplicate Bridge Club held its regular weekly game Wednesday.

Howard earns Ph.D.
Ruben A. Howard II recently defended his doctoral dissertation titled “An Examination of the Organization Workforce Advisory Committees in the Lone Star College System” and his Ph.D. has been conferred from Capella University.
Howard received the Doctor of Philosophy in Organization and Management with a specialization in Business and will participate in the Winter 2013 commencement in Long Beach, Calif.
Howard currently serves as the Chair of the Business Department and Professor of Logistics Management at Lone Star College Cyfair in Cypress, Texas.
He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated and 100 Black Men of America. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ruben A. Howard Sr.
