Children's Festival planned

The Committee for Murphy Street Children's Jamboree will host a neighborhood jamboree for the children of Murphy Street and the surrounding area from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

Children, ages 12 and under, from the Murphy Street area are welcome but a parent must accompany them in order to participate in the event. Parents are responsible for their child's safety and behavior.

The event will include a variety of games and activities for children, as well as a cookout, including hot dogs, hamburgers, and side items.

Murphy Street is a poverty-stricken area in the Cleveland Community where children do not get a chance to experience a summer vacation and the committee wants to give them a summer vacation within the neighborhood.

St. Jude Walk-a-Thon set

This weekend, the Cleveland Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. will present the 2nd annual St. Jude Walk-a-Thon.

The event will be held Saturday on the Crosstie Walking Trail in downtown Cleveland at 8:30 a.m.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the registration fee is $10.
