Lucas Eugene O’Neill recently graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
In addition to his academic achievement, Lucas was also named Marshal of the School of Engineering by the Dean.
As Marshal, he was the School of Engineering’s standard bearer and was individually recognized during the ceremony.
Lucas is the son of Mike and Renee Young O’Neill of Oxford and grandson of the late Gene and Barbara Young of Cleveland.
He begins Purdue University graduate school in the fall.
Devonta Allen of Shaw was recently named to the honors list for the Spring Semester at Northwestern State University of Louisiana.
Students on the Honor List must be enrolled full-time at Northwestern State and have a grade point average of between 3.0 and 3.49.
The National Society of High School Scholars recently announced Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science student Brittany N. Johnson of Mound Bayou has been selected to become a member of the organization.
The organization recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment.
Cornelius Devante Martin, formerly of Cleveland, has participated in the school of medicine and dentistry of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The nine-week program is an academic preparatory program that mimics the first year of medical and dental school.
Cornelius is a 2011 graduate of Northside High School in Jacksonville, N.C., and was chosen to be the founding treasurer of the Appalachian State University chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta.
He is a dean’s list scholar and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andre Burns and the grandson of Willie Mae Martin.
