Michael S. Carr of Cleveland was recognized as this year’s recipient of the Law-Related Public Education Award from the Mississippi Bar Foundation.

This award is presented to a lawyer who has displayed excellence in enhancing the public’s understanding of the law and the legal system.

After graduating from the University of Mississippi School of Law, Mike moved back to his hometown of Cleveland to begin practice with Griffith and Griffith and the Office of the District Attorney for the 11th Circuit Court District.

Mike has been an active member of The Mississippi Bar’s Young Lawyers Division where he has served on the Board of Directors representing the Delta Division, conducted numerous presentations for Lawyer in Every Classroom, participated in the Wills for Heroes program, served as a High School Mock Trial Judge for six years and served as Northern District Regional Chair of the High School Mock Trial Competition this year.

In addition to his YLD work, Mike was selected for the Mississippi Bar Leadership class of 2012 and has served as President of the Bolivar County Bar Association.

Mike was recognized for his participation in the Young Lawyers Division’s major law related education programs – A Lawyer in Every Classroom and as a Mock Trial volunteer and judge.
