Mound Bayou to hold election

Petitions to qualify for a Special Election for alderman in Mound Bayou are due by 5 p.m. today.

The city is holding this election to fill the position left vacant by Alderman Eulah Peterson, who recently resigned due to an undisclosed reason.

To qualify for the Special Election, candidates must turn in a petition, which has been signed by at least 50 qualified municipal electors, to the municipal clerk.

There will be no qualifying fee for candidates.

As of presstime the city clerk said no candidate petitions had been turned in.

The Special Election for will be held on Aug. 27.
