Nell W. Kent, 88, of Rosedale died on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at her home.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Gunnison United Methodist Church.

Nell was born on November 26, 1924, in Memphis, Tenn., to Harvey Ralph Whiteside and Robbye Cheshier Whiteside. She graduated from Blue Mountain College and was a business and English teacher in the Gunnison and Rosedale communities for 25 years. She served in the U.S. Navy as a Wave and was a member of the Mississippi Delta Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Nell married Milton Orville Kent of Gunnison on December 5, 1950. She said she always loved being a farmer’s wife. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing bridge, making meals for family, giving vegetables from the garden and her dogs.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville; two sisters, Sarah Kennedy Ledbetter and Mary Sue Whiteside; and a nephews, Benjamin Robin Kennedy and Michael Lewis Dean.

She is survived by her son, Keith Kent of Rosedale; daughter, Kathy Kent of Rosedale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nell was much beloved in the Delta Community and will be truly missed.
