On March 29, the White House announced that President Barack Obama had nominated Danny C. Williams Sr., formerly of Mound Bayou, to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma.

In a statement released from the White House last Thursday, Obama described Williams as a "top-flight attorney who I am confident will ensure that justice is served in Oklahoma as a United States Attorney."

Williams, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sampson Williams of Mound Bayou, was a member of the Azion Missionary Baptist Church and graduated from John F. Kennedy Jr. High School in Mound Bayou in 1984.

He received his bachelor of science degree in from Dillard University and earned his law degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1991.

Before his nomination Williams has served as a partner with the firm Chaney, Buss and Williams in Owasso, Okla., since 2003. Prior to becoming partner, Williams worked as an associate for Bodenhamier and Levinson from 2000-2003.

He also served as an assistant district attorney in the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office from 1991-1993.

"I am honored by the president's nomination and I look forward to the senate's confirmation," said Williams.
