Rev. Lonnie C. Free, 56, of Drew died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, July 14, 2013 at the Ruleville Church of God. Visitation will be held prior to services at 1 p.m. in the church.

Burial will follow in Drew City Cemetery under the direction of Williams and Lord Funeral Home of Ruleville.

He was born in Ruleville to the late, Howard and Faye Horton Free and had resided in the Ruleville and Drew area all of his life. He was employed by Baxter Laboratory and was a correctional officer at the Department of Corrections at Parchman before entering the ministry.

He served as pastor of the Ruleville Church of God for 16 years and Hamilton Church of God in Hamilton for two years before Ruleville. He studied for the ministry though Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. and he also was involved in several music singing groups and played the guitar and piano.

Mr. Free was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Free.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janet Porter Free of Drew; daughter, Tiffany Evans (Larry) of Pulaski, Tenn.; one son, Timothy Free of Baltimore, Ma.; two brothers, Jimmy Free of Moorhead and Walter Free of Cleveland, Tenn.
