There was no let down here as the Delta State University Statesmen overwhelmed the Concordia College Hornets 77-0 Saturday afternoon at Parker Field-McCool Stadium.

The win was big in the fact DSU finished the regular season a perfect 4-0 at home.

Statesmen head football coach Todd Cooley was pleased with his team’s focus.

“I was proud of them,” Cooley said. “I thought we came out and played to our standards. I was really excited in pre-game. I thought we were really ready to go. We talked about coming out trying to make a statement, because we want to get into those playoffs. I thought we did that today. Everybody that dressed out got in the game and they played to our standards.”

Freshman Tyler Sullivan completed 7-of-13 passes for 178 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions to lead the Statesmen’s passing attack. Quarterback Travis Champion saw some action as he completed 1-of-3 passes for 13 yards with an interception, and Mo Fennell took some snaps under center.

DSU will return to action on Thursday when the team travels to Carrollton, Ga. to play the West Georgia Wolves in a Gulf South Conference game at 6:30 p.m.
