According to Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Ben Williams, the accident happened around 12:30 a.m., two or three miles east of Rosedale.
“He was traveling west on Highway 8, ran off the left side of the road, collided with a tree and over turned,” he said.
“He was not wearing his seatbelt,” Williams said, adding alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the accident.
Williams said there was no way to know if the vehicle hydroplaned but it was most likely raining at that time.
It has been reported that Brown was a student at West Bolivar High School and that counselors had been brought into the school.
Funeral arrangements are pending with T.L. Redmon Funeral Home in Cleveland.
