According to the accident report from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Jori Seaberry, 26, of Mound Bayou was crossing U.S. Highway 61 at Mound Bayou Road heading east at about 6:48 p.m.
At the same time an 18-wheeler, owned by McGaughy Trucking of Iuka and driven by Zachary Crum, was heading north on U.S. Highway 61.
"It appears that Ms. Seaberry didn't see the truck coming in her direction," said Sgt. Ben Williams, spokesperson for Troop D of the Mississippi Highway Patrol. "And, she pulled into the intersection without time to react."
"At impact the Honda was thrown into the south bound lanes of U.S. Highway 61 while the 18-wheeler veered off the highway and into a field before coming to rest about 250 yards later," Williams added.
An ambulance from Pafford EMS of Mississippi arrived on the scene and transported Seaberry to Bolivar Medical Center where she was then transported by helicopter to University Medical Center in Jackson.
Crum received only minor injuries but was severely shaken up after the accident.
"All indication point toward non-life threatening injuries for Ms. Seaberry," Williams continued. "The latest report that we have received showed that she is suffering from a broken jaw and other facial injuries, several broken ribs and a broken leg."
"She is fortunate that her injuries were not more severe," he added.
It is unclear, at this time, as to whether or not she was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
