The unofficial results from Monday's mayoral election in Rosedale indicate Carey Estes has been reelected as mayor.

Estes said results from the voting machine showed that he drew in 334 votes, with the second highest candidate receiving 72 votes.

Estes said Pamela Tucker received 72 votes, Leo McGee received 40 and Isaac Green tallied 21.

"Counting 141 affidavits, nine curbside votes and two absentee votes, there are still 152 votes that need to be counted before results can be official," said Estes. "But even if all of these votes went to another candidate, my total can't be passed."

The certification process for the 152 remaining votes should begin Wednesday.

"As far as the race for mayor, the citizens of Rosedale have spoken on who they want to run the town again for the next four years," added Estes. "I'd like to say thanks to all the loyal citizens who have put their trust in me and reelected me to help bring our town up to bigger and better things.

"I will focus on working with law enforcement to improve some of the problems we've experienced lately and make this town a safer place for everyone to live."

There were also two Rosedale councilmen elections held Monday.

In Ward 1, Gregory Johnson received 73 votes and Debra Smith received 56.

In Ward 3, James Bolden received 48 votes and Raymon Kelly received 41.

Both of these elections could change depending on certification of the remaining 152 votes.

Estes said a State of the Town address would occur once results are final.
