Delta State University will be looking for a new leader for its football program as Jamey Chadwell resigned as head coach of the Statesmen after just one season.

According to Live5news.com of Charleston, S.C., Chadwell is to be named head football coach of the Charleston Southern University Buccaneers in at 1 p.m. today in a press conference at the university.

This will be Chadwell’s second stint on Charleston Southern’s staff as he served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the team from 2004-08.

In 2012, Delta State went 3-7 under Chadwell, which ended up being the team’s first losing season since 2002.

Before coming to DSU, Chadwell posted a record of 22-14 as head football coach at North Greenville University, leading the Crusaders to a trip to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Playoffs in 2011.

Chadwell wasn’t available for comment, and DSU had no official comment as of presstime.
