The court has been selected and the members are ready to make their grand entrance during the Children's Benefit Ball, sponsored by the Junior Auxiliary of Cleveland.

The Winter Wonderland-themed ball will be held on Feb. 15 at the Bolivar County Expo and will start with the silent auction at 6:30 p.m.

The court and surprise royalty will be presented at 7:45 p.m.

All interested are invited to attend the ball, which is the only fundraiser for JA.

Ninth and 12th grade daughters, sons, granddaughters, and grandsons of Junior Auxiliary members are presented as part of the Junior Auxiliary Children’s Benefit Ball Court.

Junior Auxiliary honors the hard work and dedication of the women who have served JA through the years and who are currently serving Junior Auxiliary today by the presentation of their children.

Ninth grade court members:

Allie Elizabeth Blackwood — Allie is the daughter of Dr. Mark Blackwood and Mrs. Kim Buehring. She attends Bayou Academy and is a member of First United Methodist Church. Allie’s mother, Kim, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Haley Jordan Bishop — Jordan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Bishop and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Walker. She attends Bayou Academy and is a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. Jordan’s grandmother, Cathy, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Shelby Cecilia Cox — Shelby is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Cox. She attends Cleveland High School and is a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. Shelby’s mother, Anita, is an active member of Junior Auxiliary.

Brantley Gray Hutchinson — Brantley is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Hutchinson. She attends Bayou Academy and is a member of Cleveland Church of God. Brantley’s mother, Stephanie, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Mary Madeleine LaMastus — Mary Madeline is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mack LaMastus. She attends Cleveland High School and is a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Mary Madeline’s mother, Renee, is an active member of Junior Auxiliary.

Virginia Annette Luth — Jenna is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Luth. She attends Washington High School and is a member of First United Methodist Church. Jenna’s mother, Michelle, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Lyndsi Parker Naron — Lyndsi is the daughter of Mr. William Naron and Ms. Ginger Naron. She attends Cleveland High School and is a member of Morrison Chapel Baptist Church. Lyndsi’s grandmother, Mrs. Linda Naron, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Kathryn Ann Ragan — Kathryn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor Ragan Jr. She attends Oxford High School and is a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Kathryn’s grandmother, Mrs. Marilyn Ragan, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Kailyn Hart Rogers — Hart is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brent Rogers. She attends Cleveland High School and is a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Hart’s great-grandmother, Mrs. Joy Anne Sartain, and grandmother, Mrs. Kay Rhett, are life members of Junior Auxiliary.

Mary Jayson Rogers — Mary Jayson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brent Rogers. She attends Cleveland High School and is a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Mary Jayson’s great-grandmother, Mrs. Joy Anne Sartain, and grandmother, Mrs. Kay Rhett, are life members of Junior Auxiliary.

Alexandra Christine Small — Alexa is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Brian Small. She attends Carbondale Communtiy High School and is a member of First United Methodist Church of Carbondale. Alexa’s mother, Carrie, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Catherine Baird Smith — Catherine is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gwin Shelby Smith. She attends Briarcrest Christian School and is a member of Christ Methodist Church. Catherine’s grandmother, Mrs. Becky Smith, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary and Children’s Benefit Ball Queen, 1980.

Lee Michael Bassie — Lee Michael is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Travis McGarrh Bassie. He attends Bayou Academy and is a member of First Baptist Church. Lee Michael’s mother, Cindy, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Leo Pittman Edwards III — Trace is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Pittman Edwards Jr. He attends Cleveland High School and is a member of First United Methodist Church. Trace’s mother, Deanna, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Clark Younger House — Clark is the son of Mr. James Willard House III and Ms. Celeste House. He attends Bayou Academy. Clark’s mother, Celeste, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Douglas Collier Kimbrell — Collier is the son of Mr. Douglas Clark Kimbrell Jr. and Ms. Neal Kimbrell. He attends Cleveland High School and is a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. Collier’s grandmother, Mrs. Jane Elliot, and his mother, Neal, are both life members of Junior Auxiliary.

William Ashton Ouzts — Ashton is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Brad Ouzts. He attends Bayou Academy and is member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. Ashton’s mother, Valerie, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Twelfth grade court members:

Laurel Hayden Bowen — Laurel Hayden is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Daniel Bowen. She attends Bayou Academy where she served as Executive Student Council President, Vice President, and Treasurer. She is a coordinator of the Community Service Club and was awarded the Elizabeth A. Alford Distinguished Service Award. She is a member of the Cleveland Cotillion Club and was a member of the Junior Auxiliary Crown Club. She was named Miss Bayou Academy Junior High and Bayou Academy Homecoming Queen. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Laurel Hayden attends First Baptist Church where she is a member of the church’s youth group. Her mother, Bobbie Gail, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Mary Parker Janoush — Mary Parker is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Janoush. She attends Cleveland High School where she is Student Body President. She is a member of the school’s cheerleading squad, tennis team, Diamond Girls, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Library Club and Drama Club. She also has been chosen to be on the school’s homecoming court and was named Most Beautiful in 2012. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Cleveland High’s Principal Advisory Committee and the City of Cleveland’s Mayor’s Youth Council. Mary Parker has participated in both the Mississippi HOBY Leadership Conference and the World HOBY Congress. She is also active with the Interact Service Club at Cleveland High School. She is a member of the Cleveland Cotillion Club and was a member of the Junior Auxiliary Crown Club. She attends First Presbyterian Church where she is a member of the church’s youth group. Mary Parker’s grandmothers, Mrs. JoBeth Janoush and Mrs. Alyce Richardson, along with her mother, Lucy, are all life members of Junior Auxiliary.

Maribeth Rose Morgan — Maribeth is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Allen Morgan Jr. She attends Indianola Academy where she was nominated for the National Society of Leadership and Success and named to the school’s Homecoming Court. She is a member of the Annual Staff and DIY Club. She was selected Most Beautiful at Indianola Academy and is a member of the Southern Debutante Assembly of Greenwood. She is member of Indianola Academy’s tennis team, softball team, cheerleading squad, cross country and track team. Maribeth currently holds the state record for the triple jump and is second in the state for the long jump. She was a member of the Junior Auxiliary Crown Club. She is a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church, where she is an altar server, lector and is active in the Catholic Youth Organization and the church’s CORE team. Maribeth’s mother, Theresa, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Frances Elizabeth Varner — Frances is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rogers Varner Jr. She attends Cleveland High School and is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also active on the school’s tennis team, cheerleading squad and Drama Club. Frances was nominated to the American Legion Girls State, as a People to People Sports Ambassador, and a National Scholar at the National Young Leaders Conference. She has participated on Cleveland High School’s homecoming court and was named Homecoming Queen. She serves as president of the school’s Interact Club. Frances is a member of Calvary Episcopal Church where she is an acolyte, active in the church’s youth group and serves as a youth liason to the church’s board. She is also a member of the Cleveland Cotillion Club, Delta Debutante Club and a Mystery Krewe Debutante of New Orleans. She was a member of Junior Auxiliary’s Crown Club and a Chrysalis Community Team Leader. Frances’ grandmother, Mrs. Barbara Varner, and her mother, Mary Helen, are both life members of Junior Auxiliary.

Shelby Joyce Kendall — Shelby is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Kendall. She attends Bayou Academy where she is a member of the school’s Community Service Club and has served as a class officer and Student Body Secretary. She is also a member of the school’s softball team where she was selected to the MAIS North All Star team. Shelby was a member of the Junior Auxiliary Crown Club and is member of the Cleveland Cotillion Club. Shelby’s mother, Lydia, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Marshall Richard Boggs — Marshall is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kyle Boggs. He attends Cleveland High School where he is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a member of the school’s football and baseball teams. Marshall has been named to both All Area and All Region teams in football as well as All State, All Area, and All Region teams in baseball. He is a member of the Jackson 96er baseball team. Marshall was named Cleveland High School’s Most Handsome in 2012. He is also a member of the Cleveland Stag Club and the Delta Debutante Club. He attends First Baptist Church. Marshall’s mother, Nancy, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Martin Bray III — Trace is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Bray Jr. He attends Cleveland High School where he is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Interact Club. He was named a Beau in the 2012 Cleveland High School Beauty Review and is a member of the school’s football, soccer and baseball teams. In both football and baseball. Trace was named to both All District and All Area teams. Trace is a member of the Cleveland Stag Club. He is a member of Our Lady Of Victories Catholic Church where he has served as both vice president and president of the Catholic Youth Organization. Trace’s mother, Melanie, is an active member of Junior Auxiliary.

William Alexander Burle — Alex is the son of Mr. Robert Emmett Burle Sr. and Ms. Lisa Burle. He attends Washington School where he is an honor roll student. He is a member of the varsity football team, Beta Club and Mu Alpha Theta. He is a member of First United Methodist Church of Greenville. Alex’s grandmother, Mrs. Jackie Pennington, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Evan Kurtz Griffin — Evan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Woo. He attends Indianola Academy and is a member of the school’s football team, soccer teams and basketball team. He was named an Indianola Academy Senior Athlete of the Week and adopted a first grade class for Character Mentoring. He is active in Habitat for Humanity and Relay For Life. He was voted most school spirit and is a member of Indianola Academy’s Praise Band. He has been awarded the Barnett Foundation Scholarship from the University of Mississippi and the Academic Excellence Scholarship. He is a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church where he is active in the church’s youth group and has served as a Vacation Bible School volunteer. Evan’s mother, Pam, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Jacob Forrest Havens — Forrest is the son of Mr. And Mrs. Tyson Clem. He attends Cleveland High School. He is a member of the Future Farmers of America and serves on the Bolivar County Volunteer Fire Department as a Fire Explorer. Forrest is a member of the Cleveland Stag Club. He attends Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church where he is a member of the Catholic Youth Organization. Forrest’s mother, Michelle, is an associate member of Junior Auxiliary.

John Clayton Norquist — Clayton is the son of Mr. David Norquist and Ms. Paige Norquist. He attends Cleveland High School where he is president of the Drama Club and a member of the school’s soccer team. He is also a member of the Cleveland Stag Club. He attends Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church where he is involved in the Catholic Youth Organization. Clayton’s grandmothers, Mrs. Gloria Norquist and Mrs. Jane Elliott, and his mother, Paige, are all life members of Junior Auxiliary.

Austin Jarrett Pennington — A.J. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Art Pennington. He attends North Sunflower Academy. He is a member of the North Sunflower Academy’s football and baseball teams. He was selected as a Beau in the school’s 2012 and 2013 Beauty Reviews and is a member of the High School Rodeo Association. He is a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. A.J.’s grandmother, Mrs. Jackie Pennington, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Michael Clifford Portner — Michael is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Mike Portner. He attends Bayou Academy where he has served as a class officer as well as a Student Council officer. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. He was selected to attend the APEX Leadership Conference and Mississippi Boys’ State. Michael is also a member of Bayou Academy’s baseball and basketball teams. He was named to All Conference and All Area teams in baseball and All District, All Conference, and All Area teams in basketball. Michael is president of the Cleveland Stag Club. He attends First Presbyterian Church where he is active in the First Presbyterian youth group. Michael’s mother, Tracy, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Joseph Tyler Vaughn — Tyler is the son of Mr. and the late Mrs. Lawrence Edward Vaughn. He attends Bayou Academy where he is a member of the tennis team and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He attends Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church where he is a member of the Catholic Youth Organization. Tyler’s mother, Liza, was a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Fifth through eighth grade daughters and granddaughters of active and associate/life members are invited to join Crown Club and participate in Junior Auxiliary’s projects. Through these activities, the young ladies’ interests are peaked in the social, economic, civic and cultural conditions around them.

JA members also demonstrate to these young girls the importance and joy of caring for others.

During their time in Crown Club, the members are traditionally presented their sixth grade year as part of the Children’s Benefit Ball Court.

Elizabeth Strickland Bassie — Libby is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Bassie. She attends Bayou Academy and is a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Libby’s grandmother, Mrs. Jackie Pennington, is a life member of Junior Auxiliary.

Magnolia Helene Sledge — Maggie Helene is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Sledge III. She attends Presbyterian Day School and is a member of First United Methodist Church. Maggie Helene’s grandmother, Mrs. Joyce Sledge, and mother, Susan, are life members of Junior Auxiliary. Her great-grandfather, the late Mr. Homer Sledge Sr., was Children’s Benefit Ball King, 1980. Her grandfather, Mr. Homer Sledge Jr., was Children’s Benefit Ball King, 1995.

Elizabeth Lucile Smith — Elizabeth is the daughter of Dr. Adam Barrett Smith and Mrs. James Casey Stanford. She attends Presbyterian Day School and is a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Elizabeth’s mother, Beverly, is an associate member of Junior Auxiliary.

Jane Ellen Warlick — Jane Ellen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hall Warlick. She attends Presbyterian Day School and is a member of Calvary Episcopal Church. Jane Ellen’s mother, Camille, is an associate member of Junior Auxiliary.
