Ray Brooks falls to Pine Grove

BENOIT — The Ray Brooks Lady Tigers against the Pine Grove Lady Panthers had a tough day in game one of a best of three series in the first round of the 1A State Fast Pitch Softball Playoffs here Monday evening.

The Lady Panthers hammered the Lady Tigers 19-2 in a game that was cut short after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. Game two of the series will be played today at 4:30 p.m. in Ripley with a third game if necessary to be played immediately after.

Pine Grove (15-6) jumped on top early by scoring nine runs in the first. The Lady Panthers also scored two runs in the second, three runs in the third, a run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth.

The Lady Tigers (13-6) scored their only two runs of the game in the fourth.

T’Kyra Hicks and Shunicka Mungon pitched for the Lady Tigers.

Hicks and Mya Leslie tagged a hit and scored a run each to lead Ray Brooks at the plate.
