Jo Anne Johnson Marquis, 81, died on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Montgomery.

Visitation will be held one hour before graveside service at the church pavilion. Wilson & Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jo Anne, the youngest of five children, was born on August 22, 1931, to Irma Leigh Bunch and Absalom Calvin Johnson in Doddsville. Jo Anne grew up in Doddsville and graduated from high school in Ruleville in 1949.

She was married to James Gary Marquis Sr., on October 22, 1950.

Survivors include her husband James Gary Marquis Sr. and their four children, James Gary Marquis Jr. and wife Leigh Anne, and Steven Alan Marquis, all of Cleveland, Debbie Marquis Buckley and husband Rice of Pensacola, Fla., and Beth Marquis McWilliams and husband Tim of Madison; grandchildren, David Marquis of Orlando, Fla., Michael Marquis of McCalla, Ala., Michelle Marquis Thornton of Madison, Elizabeth Buckley Beasley of Opelika, Ala., Hannah McWilliams Lewis of Madison, Jeremy Marquis of Cleveland, Jackson Buckley of Pensacola, Fla., Zachary McWilliams of Madison, and Denise Smith of Cleveland; and five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Zoe, Eric and Brody Thornton, all of Madison and Reese Beasley of Opelika, Ala. She also leaves four nieces and three nephews, Leigh Macy, Tis Dean, Hank Neill, Bill Neill, Vickie Lubianni, Anne Flanagan and Buddy Johnson.

Jo Anne was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, 2nd Lt. William Calvin (Buddy) Johnson, Eugene Franklin Johnson and wife Dot, her two sisters, Irma Elizabeth (Beth) Johnson and Kathryne Johnson Neill and husband Eugene Henry Neill.

Pallbearers will be David, Guy, and Robert Johnson, William Moore, William Chesteen, and Tom Flanagan.

Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
