This past March, Wykena L. Brown-Thigpen of Cleveland had her first book published.

“How to Stay,” is an informational book about keeping a marriage together through her personal experiences and biblical examples.

“The book is about how to stay married through all the struggle. Actually loving a flawed individual is not simply an optimistic emotion, rather a day by day choice,” said Thigpen.

Although “How to Stay” is mainly about keeping marriages together, it can also be used to help other relationships such as work relationships, relationships between friends and romantic relationships according to Thigpen.

“How to Stay” was published by PublishAmerica and will also have a workbook that follows along with the book.

The workbook for “How to Stay” will be published and released later this year.

Although this book is geared mainly toward married couples, Thigpen hopes that all will read her book and get some useful information from it.

“Whether your marriage is hanging on by a thread or strong as an ox, you can glean something from this story that could change your marriage and even your life,” said Thigpen.

Thigpen has been a special education teacher at Margaret Green Junior High School in Cleveland for eight years.

Even though this is her first book to be published, Thigpen has been writing since high school and had a poem published her senior year.
