Police are seeking more leads from a July 20 case when the body of Louis West Jr., 21, of Cleveland was found unresponsive in the road around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Chrisman Avenue and Hadley Street.
When authorities arrived at the scene, officers said West appeared to be struck by a vehicle. Foul play has not been ruled out.
EMTs were called but their efforts proved unsuccessful.
In a separate incident, police are also seeking information from a July 23 shooting at Lee Street Liquor that occurred around 10 p.m.
Bingham said a lone individual wearing a red shirt and a mask walked into the store, where two clerks were working the front at the time.
The gunman shot one clerk in the right shoulder and then left the store. The case is not an armed robbery because the suspect did not take anything nor did he attempt to take anything.
Bingham and his officers are hard at work investigating both cases and said quite often the community plays a big role in cracking down on missing facts.
"We're hoping citizens can come forward with more leads — the police are asking for your help," said Bingham. "Even if people think their information is insignificant, it might just be the small link we're looking for."
Those with related information are urged to contact the CPD at 662-843-3611.
"Or they can call the Cleveland-Bolivar County CrimeStoppers hotline at 1-800-222-TIPS if they prefer not to speak with the police," said Bingham. "Everything is confidential and there's a possibility of a cash reward up to $1,000 if a suspect is arrested and prosecuted.
"We want to make sure we get more leads and solve these cases. Please call with any information related to these incidents."
