This past week, Leach pitched in three games and didn’t give up a hit or a run in four innings of work. He also struck out one with two walks during that stretch. Leach hasn’t given up a run since Aug. 4 and his ERA with Nashville has fallen to 3.38. In 10 games with Nashville, he has pitched eight innings and has yielded just four hits with six walks and seven strikeouts. Opponents are hitting just .148 against him.

In other triple-A action, Iowa Cubs shortstop Edwin Maysonet has found his stride at the plate. Maysonet is currently riding a four-game hitting streak and has hit .400 (6-for-15) with two doubles and two RBIs during that stretch. Maysonet is currently hitting .231 with six home runs and 27 RBIs in 60 games. He has 40 hits with 20 runs scored.

Round Rock Express catcher Eli Whiteside is going through some injury problems as he was placed on the 7-day disabled list on Wednesday. When Whiteside went on the DL, he was hitting .175 with five home runs and 22 RBIs in 61 games. Despite his batting average, Whiteside was having one of his best months of the year by hitting .267 in August with a home run. He also had 35 hits with 20 runs and had committed just three errors this season.
Round Rock is a triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers organization. Whiteside played at Delta State from 1999-2001.
In single-A advanced action, Winston-Salem reliever Brandon Hardin has fallen on some hard times as of late. Over his last two appearances, he has given up three runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts in two innings of work. Hardin is currently 2-2 with five saves and a 4.03 ERA.
Winston-Salem is an affiliate of the Chicago White Sox organization. Hardin pitched at Delta State from 2011-12.
In the single-A short-season league, Vancouver Canadians relief pitcher Garrett Pickens has pitched well in his last two outings by walking just one batter and striking two without giving up a hit or run in two innings of work. For the year with Vancouver, Pickens is 1-3 with one save and a 3.86 ERA in 14 appearances. He has yielded just 17 hits with 10 walks and 12 strikeouts in 18.2 innings of work.
Vancouver is an affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Pickens played at DSU from 2011-13.
In Rookie League action, Great Falls Voyagers relief pitcher James Hudelson has had a rough time as of late. Over his last two games, he has given up five runs, all earned, on six hits with four walks and three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings of work. He has seen his ERA shoot up to 4.54. He is still 4-1 this year in 12 games and has given up 35 hits with 20 walks and 32 strikeouts in 33.2 innings of work.
