Ms. Willie Mays of Mound Bayou and Mr. Eddie Smith of Cleveland announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Arnesta Mays of Mound Bayou, to Shomari Davis of Indianola, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Dabney of Indianola and the late Jerome Boatman of Indianola.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ms. Willie C. Mays.

She graduated from John F. Kennedy Memorial High School in Mound Bayou and Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale.

She is employed at Shelby Nursing and Rehab as a certified nurses assistant.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Gentry High School and Mississippi Valley State University, where he received a B.S. degree in health, physical education and recreation.

He is employed as the assistant women’s basketball coach at Mississippi Delta Community College.

Wedding vows will be exchanged in a ceremony on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Beautiful New Hope Church in Mound Bayou. A reception will follow at Richard Coleman Recreation Center. All family and friends are invited to attend.
