The games did not disappoint as the Lady Hornets and the Trojanettes played a great game, but in the end the Lady Hornets were victorious with a 52-41 win and the Trojans edged by the Hawks 64-58.
The Lady Hornets led East Side 20-19 at halftime.
Frederica Haywood led the Lady Hornets with 27 points and Latina Jones added 11 points in the win. The victory improved JFK to 11-0 on the season.
Keisha Cotton led East Side with 10 points.
In the boy's contest the Trojans came out on fire leading Shaw 30-13 at halftime.
In the third quarter the Hawks got back in the game closing the gap to 51-40 at the end of the period.
With the Trojans leading 57-49 in the fourth, the Hawks turned up the defensive pressure and went on a 7-0 run to come to within one-point at 57-56 with 2:08 remaining.
That would be as close as the Hawks could get as a three-point basket from East Side's Clarence Stewart gave the Trojans a 60-56 lead.
Free throws from John Paul Davis, and Bobby Jones, Jr. secured the 64-58 victory for the Trojans.
Jones led the Trojans with 19 points, Davis had 12, and Charles Jackson and Perry Henry had 10 points each.
Octavius Stimage led the Hawks with 18 points, Jermarquis Stimage had 15 points and Zeldric Bass added 10 points in the loss.
Cleveland High Girls 42, Ray Brooks 41
The Cleveland High Lady Wildcats won the consolation game Saturday afternoon by sliding by the Ray Brooks Lady Tigers.
McKinnon Skeen led the Lady Wildcats with 25 points.
DyNesha Lindsey led Ray Brooks with 13 points and T'Kyra Hicks scored 12 points.
West Bolivar Boys 31, Broad Street 25
The West Bolivar Eagles defeated the Broad Street Jaguars in the boy's consolation game Saturday at East Side.
Ladarius Tucker led the Eagles with 12 points and Deguadereck Rice added 10 points.
Flo Robinson led Broad Street with 11 points.
JFK Girls 84, Cleveland 59
Four players scored in double figures to aid the John F. Kennedy Hornets in their win over the Cleveland High Lady Wildcats.
Ieysha Mays scored 34 points, Frederica Haywood had 20, Jarvis Malone scored 12 and Aleghsa Haywood had 11 points in the win. Taylor Collins led CHS with 25 points and eight rebounds, McKinnon Skeen scored 21 points with seven rebounds and Katelyn Thompson had nine.
East Side Girls 52, Ray Brooks 50
The East Side Trojnettes and Ray Brooks Lady Tigers battled tough in a tight contest, which saw the Trojanettes survive by two points.
Carvacier Sanders led East Side with 24 points, Ashia Ward had 12 points and Shammia Love scored eight points. T'Kyra Hicks had 26 points, Alexia Weatherspoon had nine points and Markelia Cross had eight points.
Shaw Boys 73, Broad Street 24
The Shaw Hawks continued their dominant performance in the county tournament with a blow out win over the Broad Street Jags.
Zeldric Bass had 16 points, Jermarquis Stimage scored 14 and Anthony Davis added 13 points in the win. Flo Robinson led Broad Street with 24 points.
East Side Boys 56, West Bolivar 46
East Side did what they had to do in getting by a feisty West Bolivar Eagles team Friday.
John Paul Davis continued his stellar senior campaign with 26 points and 10 rebounds and Charles Jackson added 13 points in the win. Ladarius Tucker led West Bolivar with 12 points and Larry Walker had 11 points.
