"The tournament is always a good way to bring all of the top talent together in one location. This year we had really good games and good competition. The fans in and around the county really come out to support this and the kids played really hard," said East Side Head coach Leroy Cotton.
"I'm really proud of the turnout and very thankful for all the people who helped with the games. We had a great time and had no problems," added Cotton.
The Most Outstanding Player for the Girls side was John. F. Kenney's Frederica Haywood who averaged 23.5 points per game in the tournament and 10 rebounds per contest.
The Most Outstanding Player for the Boys was a Co-honor as Charles Jackson and John Paul Davis of East Side High School claimed the award. Davis averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds per game in the tournament and Jackson averaged 11.5 points per game in the tournament.
All-Tournament Team Selections for the Girls included:
Tonnesia Bell of Broad Street High School; Mary Woods of Shaw High School; Jakierra Drummer of West Bolivar High School; McKinnon Skeen of Cleveland High School; T'Kyra Hicks of Ray Brooks; Carvacier Sanders and Keisha Cotton of East Side High School and Haywood, Latina Jones and Ieysha Mays for the John F. Kennedy Lady Hornets who also won the county tournament.
All-Tournament Team Selections for the Boys included:
Flo Robinson of Broad Street High School; Desmond McAbee of Cleveland High; Syderrick Maiten of Ray Brooks; Ladarius Tucker of West Bolivar; Khalil Strickland of John F. Kennedy; Zeldric Bass and Jermarquis Stimage of Shaw and Bobby Jones, Jr., Jackson and Davis for the East Side Trojans.
