Mr. Joseph White Jr., 65, of Renova died Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson.

Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, at United Baptist Church in Cleveland, with Pastor Earl V. Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Cleveland.

The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014, at the W.S. Brandon Mortuary in Cleveland and one hour prior to service time at the church.

Born May 4, 1948, to the late Joseph White Sr. and the former Leola Chatman in Cleveland, Joseph attended East Side High School, Mississippi Valley State University and Delta State University. He was a member of the Delta State Athletic Alumni and was inducted into the Delta State Hall of Fame. He was employed with Color Tile of Cleveland, then Viking Manufacturing prior to retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mound Bayou, pastored by Reverend Earl V. Hall.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings Henry White, Edmund White, Viola Curb, and Charity Penter.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Willena Scott-White of Renova; children Felisha (Jeremy) White-Edington of Little Rock, Ark., Joseph White III of Meridian, Gregory Jermaine (La’Trinicia) White of Fort Worth, Texas, and D’Arcy (Sonya) Coleman of Shreveport, La.; daughter-in-law, Latoryla Brown White of Jackson; siblings, Elizabeth (Brazil) Brown of University City, Mo., Olivia Price of Rantoul, Ill., Doris (Peter) Brown of St. Louis, Mo., Mary (Leon) Wolfe and Donna (Kenny) House, both of Chicago, Ill., Robert (Leonetta) White of Dalton, Ill., and Terry (Marlayna) White of Las Vegas; mother-in-law, Edna D. Scott and father-in-law, Edward L. Scott Jr; two brothers-in-law, Isaac (Lucy) Scott and Edward (Roslyn) Scott III; three sisters-in-law, Rose (James) Pegues, Vivian (A.D.) Chatmon, and Octavia Scott-Pack; seven grandchildren, Christopher White, Charlotte White, James Kelly, Jordan Edington, Joseph White IV, Jarahn Edington, and Gregory White, Jr., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Fields Funeral Home of Okolona, with Royce W. Chatman as funeral director, is in charge of final arrangements.
