A shooting at a lounge in the early hours of Friday has both the Shaw and Cleveland Police Departments working together.

The Shaw Police Department responded to a shooting that happened a little after midnight at Club Ventura’s Lounge.

Darin Cox of Cleveland was shot in the back by an unknown suspect.

"The victim was airlifted to Memphis and from what we are hearing he is in stable condition," said Shaw Police Chief Anthony Gibson.

The case is still under investigation and Gibson asks that anyone with information call him personally or the Shaw Police Department.

"I want to solve the case and if anyone has any information I ask that they please come forward," said Gibson.

Later that morning the Cleveland Police Department received a call from Bolivar Medical Center saying a man had been shot in the leg.

Upon arrival at the hospital Richard Cleveland, 29, of Cleveland said he had been in an altercation at Club Ventura’s Lounge in Shaw.

"After the altercation he came back to Cleveland and when he was in Cleveland a blue colored SUV pulled up beside him and rolled the window down and shot three or four times before driving off. The victim realized he'd been struck in the leg," said Cleveland Police Chief Buster Bingham.

Gibson and Bingham believe the two incidents are related.

"These probably are going to be related and it stems from the altercation that happened at the lounge," said Bingham.

To report information on this case call the Shaw Police Department at 662-754-5741, Gibson at 662-719-8200, the Cleveland Police Department at 662-843-3611, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS .
