Funeral services for Major Thomas Austin Wathen will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2014, in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel with the Reverend James Vandergriff and Bishop Allen Celestine officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Air Force. Committal services will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Thomas, 71, of Oakdale, died on Thursday, January 30, 2014, in his residence. He was born March 11, 1942, to the union of Thomas Clinton Wathen and Luella Irene Roberts Wathen in Fort Riley, Kansas. He was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents: his wife, Eveleen Doyle Wathen; one brother and three sisters.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Marie Wathen of Oakdale; son, Thomas Aaron Wathen of Oakdale; two brothers, Daniel Edward Wathen of Topeka, Kan., and Kim Starr Wathen of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Luella Fern Franqui of Tampa, Fla., and Kathleen Ella Hamilton of Bushnell, Fla.; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will begin Sunday, February 2, 2014, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., then on Monday, February 3, 2014, from 8 a.m. until time of service in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel.
