As a result of an investigation stemming from the arrest of Michael Ryan Savage of Rosedale in January, the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Department has discovered evidence of fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance.

Arrested as a result of the ongoing investigation is Alton Lawrence Stubbs of Beulah, as well as Savage.

The charge is commonly referred to as “doctor shopping,” or going to multiple doctors to obtain prescription medications for the same condition.

In this instance the two subjects arrested obtained allergy medication containing pseudoephedrine, which is the key component in creating crystal methamphetamine.

Stubbs was given a bond of $5,000 but is currently on hold by the Mississippi Department of Corrections as a result of his probationary status.

Savage was denied bond as a result of already being on bond for the felony charge of possession of methamphetamine and felony child abuse earlier in January.
