Both teams finished second with the Eagles compiling 73 points behind J.Z. George who won the event with 85 points. The Lady Eagles brought in 123 points behind J.Z. George with 149 points.
"We ran well Saturday and we had a lot of first place finishers,” West Bolivar head track coach Willie Thomas said. “The kids have been working really hard and we are looking to run well in state.”
To qualify for the state meet set to be held this weekend athletes had to finish in the top four.
The Lady Eagles started the day strong with Jermelia Silas winning the 100-meter dash (13.10).
Rachel Hudson won the 400-meter dash (1:02.31), and Silas came in third (1:03.68). Taquesha Jones came in first in the 800 meter run (2:32.00).
Ste'Nyia Williams finished second in the 200-meter dash (26.88) and Silas came in fourth (27.89).
The Lady Eagles won the 4x200 meter relay (1:50.62) with Williams, Jones, Shiziria Edwards and Kalan Clinton. West Bolivar also won the 4x400 meter relay (4:22.49) with Clinton, Jones, Edwards and Hudson.
The Lady Eagles came in second in the 4x100 meter relay (52.85) with Williams, Silas, Edwards and Clinton.
Hudson won the triple jump (33-00.00) and qualified with a third place finish in the long jump (15-05.50).
Ashley Cooper finished second in the shot put (31-00.25), and Ariana Butler finished fourth in the discus throw (80-10).
On the boys side, the Eagles started the day with Dekeenan Boyd winning the 400-meter dash (51-52). Corriante McKenzie finished fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.50)
Deguadereck Rice won the 800-meter run (2:00.87) and finished second in the long jump (22-08.00), while Ladarius Tucker won the discus throw (146-02).
West Bolivar won the 4x100 meter relay (45.17) with the team of Greg Robb, Don Lee III, McKenzie and Lenardo Brown.
The team also won the 4x400 meter relay (3:38.50) with Boyd, Lee, McKenzie and Rice. West Bolivar came in third in the 4x200 meter relay (1:33.89) with Boyd, Lee, McKenzie and Robb.
The state meet in Pearl for 2A will be held on Saturday.
