Renova citizens are making plans for their annual Fun Fest But this year it will have a twist.

According to Mayor Harvey Green this year, the proceeds raised at the event will be used to furnish the town's library.

Fun Fest is scheduled for June 7 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

"We are going to kick off the event by having a casual run around the walking trail during the morning and the other events will follow immediately after," said Green.

He said the event is still in its planning stage but he is certain of a few activities.

"After the run, we will have a car show, plenty of fun activities for children and a lot of good food. I just want the community to be involved. It is going to be a day of fellowship and fun. I want people to come out and support us. We are also looking for volunteers to help with the event.

"We also plan to have live entertainment. We just want people to come out and enjoy the day," he continued.

"I want individuals to come out and do a good deed by supporting their community or their county," added Green.

Green said he is seeking volunteers for the event.

"We need chairs and tables for our library and we have decided that this is one of many things that we could do to equip our library with necessary amenities," said Green.

"We are in the process of getting a library established in the town of Renova. A library is a vital asset to any community. It is a place of resource and every town needs one," he added.

"The library will allow children and members of the community to have access to information that they may need. It will also allow us to have an after school program," continued Green.

Green also said the library would allow citizens of Renova to sponsor several activities that would be beneficial its citizens.

"During the time when children are preparing for the American College Test, it is important for them to have certain information accessible to them. The library will allow us to possibly host ACT workshops," he said.

"It will also be a good place for leisure readers. Individuals may just want to come into the library and explore various genres of literature. All information is helpful," he added.

Green said the town of Renova is also accepting donations.

"We accept donations of any size. If individuals would like to purchase items such as tables or chairs for the library we would also be grateful," he added.
