Major (R) Patrick Thomas Tvrdik died, Friday, May 30, 2014.

Pat was born on December 22, 1969, in Fort Hood, Texas, grew up in Omaha, Neb., and graduated from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., where he earned a bachelor of science degree in physics.

Pat was then commissioned into the U.S. Army Chemical Corps where he served his country for 16 years before being medically retired. Pat is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and NATO Operations in Bosnia where he earned several medals, including the Bronze Star and three Meritorious Service Medals. His duty stations while serving in the US Army included Fort Knox, Ky., Fort McClellan, Ala., Baumholder, Germany, Fort Hood, Texas, Los Angeles, Calif., Omaha, Neb., Hanau, Germany, and Heidelberg, Germany.

Pat is survived by his wife of 18 years Pamela Ratliff Tvrdik; parents Tom and Janis Tvrdik; sister Christine Tvrdik; mother-in-law Su Therrell; father-in-law Bill Ratliff; sisters and brothers in law Lisa and Jimmy Downs and Emily and Lee Havens; nieces Callie Downs, Harrison Downs Wood, Elizabeth Gray Havens, and Anna Patrick Havens and nephew William Havens. Pat also leaves behind his precious cats that brought him much joy, Wrigley, Wilbur, and Winifred. Pat was preceded in death by his beloved cat Celes Tvrdik.

Visitation was Monday, June 2, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. with a wake immediately following at John A. Gentleman Mortuary in Bellevue.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Columbkille Parish in Papillion with Pat’s lifelong friend, Father Dan Andrews officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Downs, Lee Havens, William Havens, Wilks Wood, Jonathan Bush, Bruce Whitehead, Doug Henningsen, and Sean Kelly.

Honorary pallbearers are Dale Davis, Rob Rohren, Ryan Rohren, Reid Rohren, Rob McWilliams, Kolin Bernardoni, Aaron Krull, and Todd Nugent.
