Marshall replaces James Atkins, who has served as interim CEO of the hospital since February 2014.
“Robert is a strong leader with more than 20 years of healthcare experience and a results-oriented approach that has driven success at many organizations for which he has worked” said Robert Klein, chief operating officer of the Central Group of LifePoint Hospitals of which Bolivar is a part.
“I am confident his experience and commitment to community involvement will help lead Bolivar Medical Center toward a bright future focused on enhancing quality healthcare in the region.”
Marshall comes to Bolivar from River Parishes Hospital, also a LifePoint facility, where he served as CEO since November 2012.
Under Marshall’s leadership, the hospital improved its patient experience, resulting in significant improvements in patient satisfaction.
Among his other accomplishments at River Parishes, he helped bring new specialty clinics to the local community.
“Our board is pleased to welcome Robert to Bolivar and the Cleveland community. He has a proven track record of developing and executing effective strategic plans to enhance the role of a hospital in its community,” said Candy Davis, chairman of the Bolivar Medical Center Board of Trustees.
“We are confident he’s the right leader for our hospital and are eager to work with him to find new ways to make our community healthier.”
Before joining LifePoint, Marshall served as chief operating officer and chief administrative officer at University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Tyler, Texas.
Prior to UTHSC, Marshall was COO of Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark. Previously, he served as CEO of Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada, Okla., and he held leadership positions at Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, Ore.; Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La.; Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth; and Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
