Colon-Lombard exchange vows

Gina Marie Colon and Christopher James Lombard were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle in Jackson.

Reverend Father Scott Thomas of Clarksdale was the celebrant for the 2 p.m. ceremony.

Lectors were Katherine Barron and Mary Sofferin.

Gift bearers were Lauren and Mark Smith; Kori Bregar and Justus Arnett were Eucharistic Ministers.

Music for the ceremony was provided by Jimmy Scoggins, organist, and Sonya Loper, cantor.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carlos W. Colon of Shreveport, La., and the granddaughter of Dr. Wildo Colon and the late Mrs. Mercedes Colon of Shreveport and the late Mr. and Mrs. Morris Mutzi of Shaw.

Gina graduated from Loyola College Prep and earned her bachelor of arts in English literature from Millsaps College in Jackson. She obtained her master’s of business administration from Mississippi College in Clinton.

The groom is the son of the late Lt. Col. and Mrs. William H. Lombard and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Powers and the late Mr. and Mrs. William P. Lombard.

Christopher graduated from Montgomery Catholic High in Montgomery, Ala., and earned a bachelor of business administration in marketing from Mississippi State University in Starkville.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.

The bride’s attendants included her matron of honor, Katherine Dutro, and bridesmaids were Meghan Arnett, Katherine Burch, Lauren Mashburn, Leslie Owens, Kimbler Sloan, and Jennifer Rhodes.

Michael Sofferin served as best man. Groomsmen were Joshua Andrews, Cole Durant, Allen Gressett, Benjamin Nanney, Joshua Roberts and Michael Wilkerson.

Tyler Bregar, Micah Dutro, Andrew Gray, and Jonathan Nelson served as ushers.

Program attendants were Mary Elizabeth Gibbs and Tyler Lombard, niece and nephew of the groom.

Following the ceremony, a vintage trolley provided transportation to the reception site. The family hosted a reception at the Capital Club of Jackson.

The couple honeymooned in Rome, Italy, where they toured the Vatican and received a nuptial blessing from the Holy Father, Pope Francis. The newlyweds have returned to their home in Jackson. Gina is employed with the Mississippi Department of Transportation and Christopher with Skye Technology.
