The United Way of Cleveland-Bolivar County is only a couple of days way from ending its current fundraising campaign and mere dollars away from reaching its goal.

“Our current 2013 United Way Campaign report as of Friday showed pledges of $123,018.49, which is 99.44 percent of our $123,710.00 goal,” said Executive Director Peggy Davis

“I am hoping that we can get the $691.51 that is needed to meet this goal. Keep your fingers crossed,” she said, adding it’s still not too late to make a pledge.

Donations to the United Way benefit a number of organizations, which help Bolivar Countians in need.

After going through a rigorous funding evaluation, approved agencies receive funds quarterly from donations raised.

Agencies currently funded through the United Way, include the American Red Cross, Bolivar County Literacy Council, Boy Scouts Chickasaw Council, Community Counseling Center, 4-H of Bolivar County, Girl Scouts Heart of the South, Helping Hands Community Assistance, Our House Inc., Sunny Seniors, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and United Service Organizations.

Davis said the United Way offers several different ways to contribute.

“We have payroll deduction which are done through your employer. We offer billing for your annual pledge or you can make a onetime gift.

“The money we raise in Bolivar County stays in Bolivar County to help our neighbors and friends,” said Davis.

Donations may be sent to the United Way of Cleveland-Bolivar County at P.O. Box 1795, Cleveland, MS 38732 or call 662-846-1646 for more information.
